"What I Hear: The Soundwalk"

I sat down one afternoon and closed my eyes. The front steps of my house was my seat to my neighborhood orchestra. It was the afternoon, and the school kids across the street were screaming, and yelling, just being kids. I hear the footsteps of older kids walking past the house. One of them is playing music, it sounds like rap or hip hop. The cars passing by of their parents picking them up, getting upset and honking at the other cars in the way. Over all of that commotion is the usual sound of the planes taking off from JFK airport, about a ten minute drive from my home. I like this sound the most because, they come pretty close to my house. So it sounds as if your at the runway. It's pretty loud noise but, I'm used to it. The sound of crunching leaves under their feet. The up roar of the trees blowing leading into an intense crescendo.
